During America's War of Independence with England, it was the
pastors, wearing their black pulpit robes, who led their congregations
out of their churches and in many cases led them in battle.

Because of this, the Revolutionary War of the colonies was also
called the "Presbyterian Revolt." Besides Presbyterian pastors,
ministers from Baptist, Lutheran, Congregationalist, and Reformed
churches were members of the Black Robe Regiment as well.

We believe it is time for pastors across the nation to follow the
example of those in the 1770s who were not afraid to act in a time of
national emergency.

Christians are looking to their pastors today for spiritual
leadership and advice on what we can all do to help save our nation and
return it to a government of the people, by the people, and for the
people.
