Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.
But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
Psalm 73:1-3
It’s amazing how we confuse prosperity and blessings. Don’t misunderstand me, I believe God wants His people prosperous. The truth is, as it states in Proverbs 13:22, “The wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.” Hard work and good business produce prosperity. That is why wicked people live high, and we can just about stumble when we look at it, the Psalmist declares above.
More importantly than being prosperous is being blessed. Blessings are not about things. It is more about the blesser than the blessed, the giver than the receiver. It is the impartation unto one that is impactful.
Genesis 1:28 says, “God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”
The power of the blessing is defined by Jesus in John 20:29, “Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” The ability to receive the unseen from the giver without seeing it, the ability to trust the process without yet having walked it out makes you blessed.
Don’t get discouraged nor allow the prosperity of the wicked to cause you to slip. Allowing physical, material, and fleshly things to divert your attention away from the blessing of God that He has spoken over your life is simply a trick of the enemy to make you stumble. Applaud their successes and accomplishments, knowing it has been laid up for the just.
Our prayer for you this week: May you stay on your feet and know the prosperity of the wicked is laid up for you.
