The Hope of Glory
Colossians 1:27
“To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:”
There is a verse of Scripture most everyone can quote and celebrate when it comes to talking about their walk with God. Matthew 1:23 says, “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
We often talk of God being with us in our journey or daily life. The fact is, we say it to the point that it sounds like He is riding shotgun with us down the street in the vehicle. We remind people, “Don’t forget, it will be alright because God is with you.” Pulpits commonly say, “Come accept Jesus,” or “Come receive Jesus,” then remind us that God is with us. I applaud the fact that God is with you and with me. However, there is so much more to it than just having God with you.
Paul reminds us there is something better than God being with you – “Christ in you, the hope of Glory.” Can I ask you, if you have repented of your sin, been to the water, and been baptized in the name of Jesus for remission of sin? The act of baptism does more than allow God to be with you. Galatians 3:27 states, “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” Romans 13:14 says, “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”
So today, take the leap, jump, or dive and don’t just have God with you. Have Him in you, thus having the hope of Glory inside of you.
Our prayer for you this week: May you go on to greater things not just having God with you, but residing in you.
