In The Name Of Jesus Christ
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. — Luke 10:19
Jesus has sent out the 70 in pairs of two, instructing them in Luke 10:2, “The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.” Hiding nothing and explaining how dangerous this journey is in verse 3, he said, “Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.”
What went out was lambs, but by verse 17, what came back was the troops of the Lion of the tribe of Judah. They went out as novices, yet they came back full of joy and authority. “Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name” (Luke 10:17).
It is here Jesus moves this beyond himself and his 12 disciples. The army of God begins to form here in Luke 10, just as Jesus said, “I give you power…” As of recent polls, there are 2.365 billion believers in Jesus Christ in the world, or 29.29 percent of the world’s population.
I’m not here to argue who believes who is closest to Christ. I am writing this in hopes that we realize if one person can put a 1,000 to flight, and two can put 10,000, then what could a body of believers of 2.365 billion do if we catch on to the power of the name of Jesus Christ?
Our prayer for you this week: May you come to realize the power and authority you carry with you in the name of Jesus Christ.
