Greet the Sunshine!

| Josh Shields

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: (Romans 1:20)

This morning, I received a video text from my sister. The sun is rising, the streets of the town she lives in are quiet, and she pauses long enough to record the sounds of birds singing in the background declaring their trust is in God and God alone.

What will our song be when we walk down the hall headed to our cubical, office, line, or workstation? Will it be one that announces the goodness of God? Or, will it be one of complaining about the ride to work, the line at Starbucks, 7 Brew, McDonalds, or the local doughnut shop, and how they were out of what we wanted or too slow, all while sitting in our heated seats, holding onto our heated steering wheel, in our $50,000 ride, complaining to others on our cell phones of just how rough we have it in this life.

If you had the strength to get up this morning, greet the sunrise, smell the fresh air, be in your right mind, all while having a roof over your head to get dressed to go to work, you have no right to complain. It’s amazing how creation has left us without excuse! When will we come to the realization the next second is not in our control? Your next heartbeat, breath, thought, and action ride solely on God and God alone. Your days are in His hands. So, today, slow down. Encourage the person in the drive-through, the hall, next cubical, office, across the line, and yes, even the one that sits in the same pew with you at church. Leave them without excuse!

Our prayer for you this week: May you come to realize this day has been given to you by the Almighty. Enjoy it. NO EXCUSE!
