Behind the Veil

| Micah Van Huss

Throughout history, reports of unidentified flying objects have been documented, often described as mysterious lights or strange objects in the sky. In his work The War of the Jews, Flavius Josephus records that around the year A.D. 70, there were sightings of chariots flying through the clouds. Ancient Hindu texts contain descriptions of flying chariots or vehicles used by both gods and warriors.

In Scripture, Ezekiel describes a dazzling, otherworldly “wheel within a wheel” surrounded by radiant light and accompanied by beings with four faces, moving with an intelligence that defies earthly comprehension.

I could list dozens more examples of UFOs in ancient writings, but you get the point: Ancient sightings illustrate that the phenomenon of UFOs is far from a modern invention.

These sightings, spanning millennia and cultures, continue to intrigue researchers and enthusiasts, blending folklore, science and the unknown into the enduring mystery of UFO phenomena.

There’s no question that UFOs have and do exist. The real question is: What are they and who’s piloting them? Additional curiosities include: Is Christianity compatible with Ufology and the existence of extraterrestrial life? Are humans created by God or a product of alien experimentation? Is there a link between alien abductions and religious experiences?

The recent hearings in the U.S. Congress on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs) have brought the otherworldly mysteries of the skies under public scrutiny. High-ranking officials, military personnel and whistleblowers have testified to encounters with objects defying the laws of physics, raising profound questions about national security, advanced technology and the possibility of non-human intelligence. Are these phenomena the work of foreign adversaries, secret military projects or something far more enigmatic?

In 1947, rancher Mac Brazel found strange debris resembling a crashed aircraft near Roswell, N.M. This sparked one of the most famous cases in UFO history – the Roswell incident. It was initially reported by the military as the recovery of a “flying disc,” but the narrative quickly changed to a weather balloon explanation, fueling conspiracy theories.

While the 1947 Roswell incident is an intriguing modern encounter, UFOs aren’t a modern phenomenon at all. History records strange flying objects thousands of years ago.

Alexander the Great reportedly encountered mysterious flying objects during his military campaigns. In 329 B.C., as his army crossed a river in India, flying “silver shields” were said to dive aggressively at his troops, causing chaos among men and elephants alike. Another story claims that during the siege of Tyre in 332 B.C., strange flying objects assisted Alexander by destroying parts of the city walls with beams of light.

The Hindu texts, such as the Vedas and Mahabharata, describe advanced flying machines known as vimanas. These vehicles are depicted as capable of traversing vast distances through the sky, the sea and even interplanetary space. Descriptions of vimanas include details of their construction, propulsion systems and weaponry, suggesting highly advanced technology.

“The Vimana that resembles the Sun… that aerial and excellent Vimana going everywhere at will… that chariot resembling a bright cloud in the sky… and the King got in, and the excellent chariot at the command of the Raghira, rose up into the higher atmosphere,” said Ramayana, circa 600 B.C.

While traditional scholars view these texts as mythological, the words recorded are as real as you and I. It’s astonishing that 3,500-year-old words describe such things. As I like to say, there’s a whole lot more truth to our mythologies than most people will admit.

While UFO sightings often involve distant and enigmatic objects traversing the skies, there are stories that bridge the gap between passive observation and active interaction, raising unsettling questions about the motives and intentions of the beings behind these unexplained phenomena. Could UFOs in the sky merely be the prelude to deeper, more sinister experiences of alien abduction?

While the ancients recorded UFO sightings, alien abductions are a relatively recent phenomenon. Almost 4 million Americans claim to have been abducted by aliens. That’s more than one out of 100 people.

The topic of abductions has serious implications for humanity’s salvation through Jesus Christ. Through the studies of alien abductees, hundreds of encounters have been documented where the name of Jesus was invoked, instantly stopping these encounters. Victims would instantly wake up in their beds.

“Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?” says 1 Corinthians 6:19.

For all human history, aliens and UFOs were recorded as spiritual entities. It wasn’t until the dropping of the atomic bomb 80 years ago that naturalism popularized the idea that UFOs are anything other than entities from the spirit realm.

Contrary to popular belief, not only is there nothing in the Bible that orients these spiritual beings to other planets, but there’s nothing in any ancient text that does so, either.

A lot of people go through life thinking that science has it figured out – that there are no anomalies – that nothing transcends the physical world. But the world is a lot stranger than we think it is. People will say the Bible doesn’t mention aliens. If aliens show up, there goes the Bible out the window.

If aliens are out there, then humans aren’t unique. But we are. We are God’s image-bearers. It means a lot more than that we just look like Him. We humans represent YHWH to the creation.

We are creatures of free will. God placed the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in front of Adam and Eve. It was their choice to obey God or not.

Through our actions, we reflect His nature and essence. Being made in the image of God means that we carry the responsibility to reflect His love, justice and mercy in the world around us. It empowers us to cultivate relationships and steward His creation.

Moreover, the image of God within us calls us to honor and respect one another as fellow bearers of that image. It invites us to pursue a life characterized by compassion, empathy and service. Racism would not exist if humanity were able to embrace and act on this concept. This concept should not be constrained to how we treat people at church only on Sundays, but every day of our week, wherever we are. None of us are perfect in these goals but there was one – Jesus Christ – God embodied in our realm.

Some claim that Jesus was nothing more than an enlightened human and that He was here to bring about apotheosis, teaching us how to ascend into godhood.

The messaging that most people get from aliens is that Jesus is nothing special. But in their deception, they expose themselves. Why is it that only Jesus is targeted in this way? They never claim that Buddha or Mohammed are something other than their religions claim. Their names are never used as a cuss word.

Lucifer wants to redefine the terminology. He wants God redefined as a transcendent extraterrestrial. With aliens, we have the space of heaven without the God of the Bible. Humanity has no accountability, no sin. Christians get to keep their Bibles, and the Truth suddenly becomes something different.

Scripture tells us that there is a veil between the spiritual and physical realms.

“For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known” (1 Corinthians 13:12).

Here, Paul is describing our understanding of spiritual things. Trying to see into the spiritual realm is like trying to look through a dim metal mirror – the kind they had in those days.

The holographic principle is a theoretical concept in physics suggesting that all the information contained within a three-dimensional space can be encoded on a two-dimensional surface that bounds it. This idea, often applied to black holes and the universe itself, implies that our reality might function like a hologram, with the full depth of our experience derived from a lower-dimensional framework.

If you were to move your hand over a piece of paper, your shadow would cross it. If cartoon characters were real and living in their two-dimensional world on that paper, lacking the capacity to perceive depth, they might notice a shadow or a distortion on their plane, an indirect effect of your presence.

To these cartoon characters, this shadow would be mysterious and inexplicable within their two-dimensional framework. They might theorize about its nature or wonder about its source, without ever understanding the true reality of your three-dimensional existence.

The spiritual realm is likely a different dimension. When angels or demons interact with our three-dimensional world, we might only perceive “shadows” or echoes of higher dimensions, leaving us with limited understanding of the greater reality beyond our senses.

The Bible portrays the veil between the spiritual and physical realms as a thin but significant barrier, separating God’s divine presence and the heavenly realities from the human earthly existence. In the Old Testament, this concept is symbolized by the veil in the Tabernacle and later the Temple, which divided the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies, where God’s presence dwelled (Exodus 26:33). Human access to this realm was restricted, emphasizing God’s holiness and humanity’s sinfulness.

In the New Testament, the tearing of the Temple veil at the moment of Jesus’ death (Matthew 27:51) symbolizes the removal of this barrier, granting believers direct access to God through Christ.

Throughout Scripture, there are moments where the veil is briefly lifted, such as Jacob’s vision of a heavenly ladder (Genesis 28:12), Elisha’s servant seeing angelic armies (2 Kings 6:17) and John’s apocalyptic vision in Revelation. These glimpses reveal that the spiritual realm is close and active, though often hidden from human perception.

Are aliens physical beings from another planet? While movies make intergalactic travel seem realistic, it’s really impossible – for now. If we could achieve the speed of light, it would take a craft two million years to travel from our galaxy (the Milky Way) to the next nearest one, which is Andromeda. At the speed of light, one grain of sand hitting the hull of a spacecraft would equal several hundred tons of TNT.

While it’s possible that aliens are physical beings from another planet, it’s more likely that the things we’re seeing in the skies and in congressional hearings are our neighbors.

If ETs exist, they’re not in the equation in Genesis. God doesn’t have to tell us everything He has ever done or will do. It doesn’t matter if it’s in the Bible or not. The Bible is God’s Word… to us, His creation is here on Earth.

God created intelligent beings in the physical world and God created intelligent beings in the spiritual world. Aliens are beings who show up in flesh bodies – just like entities in Scripture.

As the Watchers did in Genesis, will spiritual beings once again infiltrate the human genome? Jesus Himself says in Matthew 24, as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be at the coming of the Son of Man. The last thing we see before God’s kingdom comes back to Earth in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream is feet of iron mixed with clay.

“Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel… And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men…” (Daniel 2:19, 43)

Are experiences of aliens performing reproductive experimentation figments of the imagination for millions of Americans, or is Scripture revealing its prophecies before the return of the King?

The line between the spiritual and physical world remains an enigma, with Elohim operating in ways that defy human understanding. They move unseen, influencing hearts, minds and events. Their presence is visible through the veil darkly, reminding us that the forces beyond our sight are neither bound by time nor space.

As we live the lives that God has given us, we must wonder: How often do we unknowingly walk among them, in the middle of an eternal struggle between God’s light and the enemies shadow?
