Fall on Christ!

So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. —John 8:7
Caught in the very act! Can you imagine the shame, humiliation, and indignity this lady must have felt? Before I progress, I must ask: Isn’t it interesting how they did not bring the man, just the woman?
Pompous and pretentious, religious attitudes were ready to hurl stones of judgment and death at the victim of their prey. Another question, what were they doing sneaking, snooping, and nosing around in areas their religious minds should not have wandered? Did not the scripture say, “Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them” (Romans 1:32)?
The answer of Jesus was simple, direct, and to the point, “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” He knew what they had never caught onto. He is the Rock, and if she falls on Him, she is broken and can be rebuilt, but if he falls on her, she is crushed. From the oldest to the youngest, they dropped their stone and walked away. Why?
The only one without sin is Christ. James 2:10 says, “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” Romans 3:23 states, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Jesus condoned neither self-righteousness nor sin.
Today, no matter who is holding a stone of accusation against you, don’t allow their opinion and judgment to put fear in your heart. Fall on Christ, be broken before Him, and allow Him to heal the brokenness of your life.
Our prayer for you this week: May you come to realize Jesus condones neither judgmentalness nor sin. A broken and contrite heart He loves.
