For Those Who Love Him
1 Corinthians 2:9
“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
If we were to sit down in a group session and ask each one reading this, “What have your eyes seen?” some might say, “the Grand Canyon,” others “the Pyramids of Egypt,” some “the Pacific,” and others “the Atlantic.” Some would talk of great hunts and feats in Africa, while others would tell of the journeys through the Holy Land and Jerusalem.
Imagine the myriad sounds that men and women have heard throughout time – the harmonic sounds of a barbershop quartet, the roar of the surf, laughter, the bustle of a busy street or maybe the silence of a country road. Almost all of us have heard a cricket singing or drops of rain on a tin roof.
Yet, Paul says, “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard,” and he goes on to say, nor do you realize what God has in store for those who love Him. Stored up, prepared grace, mercy, love, and restoration already await those that love Him. You don’t have to sit in line and take a number like at the DMV. It awaits those that love Him. Sounds of, “Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.” Utterances of, “I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.” Echoes of, “Be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.” Sounds of respect and compassion greet the ears.
Can you hear the sound of Jesus sitting down with a sinner to eat or see His eyes as they switch position to see Zacchaeus in a sycamore tree? How about His heart being moved with compassion for our lost souls? Do we really realize, hear, and see what God has in store for those who love Him?
Our prayer for you this week: May you learn to take advantage of the things God has in store for those who love Him.
