Foundational Focus
“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.”
Proverbs 23:7
Little do we realize how the dynamics of our day is changed or formed by the first words we vocalize or first thoughts that come across our minds in the morning. We shape the rest of our day by the foundation that pours out of us first thing as we begin to build our day.
Not only our day, but life, is formed by what we are focused on. Why is it we spend so much time discussing the power and possession of our enemies when we need to be spending time learning how to use our weapons of warfare?
Negative thought and talk only do one thing. They paralyze our faith. Could it be what is affecting our marriage, family, work opportunities, promotions, church growth, or even our own spiritual growth is not our surroundings, co-workers, spouse, children, saints, pastors, or neighbors? What is affecting us and setting us back instead of up is our own hearts and the thoughts that come from them.
Remember, the wise man said, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” So right now, take time to stop and repent of how you’ve been thinking. Quit dwelling on what is not and start focusing on where the journey is taking you.
Our prayer for you this week: May we find a way to change the foundational focus in our lives, bringing out a better life and result.
