God is Still on the Throne and Prayer Changes Things

| Josh Davis

Since 1933, Southwest Radio Ministries has proclaimed, “God is still on the throne and prayer changes things!”

That statement is true, no matter who wins in the upcoming U.S. elections. This isn’t an excuse to sit on the couch doing nothing. Rather, it’s a reminder that God is the ultimate authority.

The Christian hope is anchored in His sovereign reign over all Creation. This blessed hope gives believers peace knowing that God will keep His promises to defeat all spiritual wickedness once and for all.

Yet, tensions are high across America as the significance of this election cycle weighs heavily upon many minds. People are apprehensive of what Wednesday, November 6 will look like in the U.S. Some people are downright scared.

The Bible is clear about fear, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Tim. 1:7). If the spirit of fear does not come from Almighty God, then who does it come from? The enemy of our souls. We must ignore those fiery darts of fear that threaten our faith.

No matter what the election results are, God is still on the throne and prayer changes things.

What can American Christians do on election day?

  • Vote biblical values.
  • Pray.
  • Trust in God.

God has ordained prayer as a powerful weapon in the arsenal of His people. Christians have the privilege of addressing the infinite Creator of the universe through prayer from anywhere at any time. What an empowering privilege!

Because of the one who is with us, the church of Jesus is the most powerful force on Earth. Kingdoms come and go. Presidents come and go. But God remains on the throne forever!

Something challenges and convicts me as I ponder prayer and the elections. As American Christians, do we crave the products of prayer more than the Person of prayer, the blessings more than the Blesser? Do we desire the healing of our land more than the Healer? If the election went the way you wanted it to on 100% of the races, would you still seek the face of God?

Many patriotic Christians are rightfully concerned with what we see happening in America. However, we must ensure that we desire Almighty God above all else. He sits on the throne forever!

Join me as we talk to the King of kings on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at 7 p.m on our Facebook page. In God’s providence, our monthly moment of prayer falls on this crucial election day. We will spend time seeking the face of God for America.

We will also pray for you and lift up your prayer requests which can be emailed to prayer@swrc.com.
