God said He would take care of

| Josh Shields

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Romans 12:19

William Tecumseh Sherman, General in the Union Army said, “I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine.  It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation. War is hell.”

The human nature of a man is filled with lies, deceit, and trickery.  From the time we enter the kindergarten playground, carnality seems to be one of the biggest enemies we fight.  From the first race we run across the grass to the last business deal we do in life, humanity fights the “I will not rest until I get you back syndrome”.

Most of us have either heard or said the phrase, “I hope you rot in hell”.  How much energy, effort, and good thought is wasted every day on trying to make sure someone experiences what we have never seen or smelt, rotting flesh or the heat of hell.

What could be built, accomplished, manufactured, and assembled if only we would direct our efforts and thoughts in the path Paul told the Roman church to, choosing to focus on the task at hand, not the arrogance and ignorance of the enemies God has removed from our lives.

Give thought to what can be gained, goals that can be reached, products that can be developed, sales that can be made, and views from the mountain that can be seen. Don’t allow your flesh to steal from you one second God has meant for success, while standing too close to hell to see if someone rots.

Our prayer for you this week: May you learn not to waste your time on what God said He would take care of.
