How To Be Transformed

| Josh Shields

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. — Romans 12:2

Paul sends a resounding message to the church in Rome, “Be not conformed.” Do not be brought into compliance with rules, laws, behaviors, or walk in accordance with socially accepted conventions or standards. You see, there really is nothing new under the sun. We feel the pressure to give, buckle, or cave into the pressure around us by lowering our standards and participating in the only thing that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life.

If we do not conform, then what is left? Paul said, “Be transformed.” Make a thorough or dramatic change in the form, appearance, or character of. How did he say to do this? By the regeneration of the mind. Where is the mind when it comes to the spirit world? In the physical world the mind is the tissue in the cranium made up of mainly fat and water. It is our mind that gives us the ability to communicate and talk.

In the spiritual world, the mind is the heart/soul of a man. Luke 6:45 says, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.”

The acceptable and perfect will of God will only come by being transformed and renewing the mind. So, make the choice to not give into the conformity of this world.

Our prayer for you this week: May you be transformed by the renewing of your mind/heart.
