Catastrophic Flooding from Hurricane Helene — We Need Your Help

On Friday, September 27, 2024, the remnants of Hurricane Helene traveled through Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee, and Virginia, dropping torrential rains and causing historic and catastrophic flooding.

Areas all across the South, particularly East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, and Western North Carolina have seen record floodwaters, damaged roadways, landslides, and widespread power outages. Despite urgent evacuation orders, including heroic rescues, many people have been trapped with no or limited cell signal, electricity, food, water, and medical supplies.

As of Monday, over 100 people were reportedly unaccounted for in East Tennessee and over 600 in Western North Carolina.

The flooding has damaged or destroyed many roadways including sections of I-26 and I-40, making travel in the region difficult or dangerous and slowing rescue and relief efforts.

The Tennessee office for Southwest Radio Ministries and Prophecy in the News is located in Bluff City — less than 40 minutes from the devastation seen in the video above. We praise God that our building did not receive any damage and all of our staff is safe.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

As we continue to watch the devastation unfold across our beloved region, we humbly ask that you consider making a financial contribution to any of the following disaster relief organizations:

Samaritan’s Purse

Hearts with Hands

God’s Pit Crew

American Red Cross

United Way of East Tennessee Highlands

Region A.H.E.A.D (for small businesses)

Mercury One

WILL YOU PRAY WITH US?

A founding cornerstone of our ministry is prayer and since 1933 we have proclaimed that God is still on the throne and prayer changes things. Friends, would you please join us as we cover our flood-ravaged region — and all areas affected by this storm — in prayer? On Tuesday, October 1, at 7:00 p.m., Pastor and Staff Evangelist Josh Davis will host the monthly Moment of Prayer on our Facebook page. We hope you’ll join us in praying for all who have been impacted by this storm and also allow us to pray for you. Prayer requests can be sent to prayer@swrc.com.

For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. —Isaiah 41:13
