The Heart of God!

| Josh Shields

1 Samuel 13:14

But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the Lord hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the Lord hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the Lord commanded thee.”

John 1:1-3 declares: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”

John goes on in verse 18 to say: “No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.”

Luke writes in 6:45: “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.”

David was a man that knew the value of communication. From an early age, sitting on the back side of a desert tending to a flock of sheep, he learned the influence of praise, prayer, and the Word of God.  Psalms 119:11 says, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” He was a man who was after the very heart of God, His Word, the Messiah by which all things were created that was in the bosom of the father from the beginning.

Can I ask what you are in pursuit of? Are you after the heart of God? Have you hidden His Word in your heart? When was the last time you picked up your Bible and began to pray the Word or commit to memory the very creative essence of God?

Our prayer for you this week: May you come to fall in love with the heart of God, His Word.
