Have you noticed lately how accustomed we have become to change? Things are not only changing, but they are changing at warp speed. One phone is produced and another is already on the heels of delivery. Look around you. Fads and fashion are ever-changing. Our auto industry is in the midst of change. School is changing, and sadly enough, even churches are changing.
What once used to be so clearcut, common, vibrant and unblemished has become muddied, murky and dark. When did it change? When did good become evil and evil good? Isaiah 5:20 says, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
When did right become wrong and wrong become right? Nowadays, in is out, and out is in. Up is down, and down is up. One would almost feel plumb out of sorts in this generation if you did not realize and have conviction about what you believe.
James made no bones about it in chapter 5 as he listed the things they were involved in and told them to admit to one another they had lost their way. What will change that? Not just prayer, but fervent prayer.
Might I say our world is still fixable? What will it take? It will take a generation that is willing to walk out of Romans 1 and move forward to Romans 8:1: “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
How do we get back to upright walking? Through prayer, fervent heated prayer, old-time get-down-and-pray-through prayer.
